I think it’s always a good idea to gather around an event or an idea. I’m sure I learned that from my friend, Jim Button (Village Brewery). I don’t think you can use the word ‘gather’ within a 100km radius of Calgary without thinking of Jim. This specific idea started over coffee with Connor Gould (Camp Brand Goods and The Livery Shop). We were trying to come up with an way to do a little municipal good that fit with TreeEra’s goals.

Doing good doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive.

We arrived at Garbage and Coffee. Over the course of the summer months here in Calgary, we’re going to be hosting a morning meet up every few weeks, in a different part of town. The idea is: we meet, the City provides us with garbage bags/gloves and as we walk to a nearby coffee shop we pick up trash along the way. We figure the endeavour will take up about an hour and a half of a Saturday or Sunday morning.

If nothing else, it is a great excuse to be outside spending time with members of the community and getting a little exercise while cleaning up our community.

Stay tuned for where and when the next Garbage and Coffee will be by keeping up with our socials.

Is there garbage and coffee in your neighbourhood? Let us know. Do you want to organize a G&C in your city? We’re happy to help: info@treeera.com

I’m looking forward to Calgary’s season of Garbage and Coffee.
