Paper Harbour

Sisters and co-creators of Paper Harbour, Janice Kenny and Alyssa Gallant, were drawn to the idea of creating a planner they could both use and share with like-minded people. The inspiration for the name ‘Paper Harbour’ comes from growing up in a small fishing village in Prince Edward Island, Canada, where Janice and Alyssa saw local harbours as community hubs for fishermen, just like their own father and grandfathers.

What was your reason for working with TreeEra to plant trees?

With the amount of paper being used for Paper Harbour’s products, we wanted to offset our carbon footprint by planting trees! Giving back to others is one of our family traditions. We are committed to partnering with non-profit organizations to help plant trees, clean ocean waters, and volunteer in local projects.

What are some other businesses that you think are doing well in the environmental space?

Pura Anada and Everlane are two businesses that we are inspired by.

What does climate change mean to Paper Harbour?

We understand Paper Harbour uses resources to make the planners so we wanted to create the smallest carbon footprint we could in the procress. By keeping everything Canadian, we are off-setting a lot of our carbon footprint, unlike other brands that use overseas manufacturing companies. Paper Harbour is committed to minimizing our ecological footprint and are consciously making sustainable choices.

Do you have any other tips on how to incorporate sustainability into one’s everyday life?

Paper Harbour believes that any difference, big or small, can make an impact! Walk to work (if you can), use reusable water bottles, drink out of stainless steel straws, buy ethically made products, shop second-hand, and change to LED lighting.
