What was your reason for working with TreeEra to plant trees? How do trees fit into Siena Vida’s mission?
At Siena Vida, one of our core guiding principles is to ensure our products are bringing joy to our customers and not harming the environment in which they are sourced from. We only use eco-friendly materials; all the way from production to packaging. Our goal is to be an example for other businesses to act in a more environmentally sustainable manner. We chose to partner with TreeEra as their mission of โTogether We Will Plant One Billion Treesโ is one that is directly aligned with our goal of being environmentally friendly and ensuring Siena Vida is making a lasting, positive impact in the world. Thatโs why in addition to using locally sourced, sustainable materials – we have committed to partnering with TreeEra to plant one tree for every single order we receive.
What are some other businesses that you think are doing well in the environmental space?
There are so many great businesses that have come up with creative ways to make a positive impact on the environment, but one that we here at Siena Vida truly admire is called Londre. Londre is based in Vancouver, BC, and makes sustainable swimwear made from recycled plastic bottles. Their business model calls for cleaning up plastic bottles from beaches and bodies of water and converting that discarded plastic into trendy swimwear. How cool is that?! We also love how they produce in small quantities to minimize waste, use compostable packaging, and pay their workers above the minimum-living wage. We also recently discovered Em & May, a small women-run clothing brand in Montreal with a focus on sustainability and ethical practices. All garments are made by their team using deadstock and natural materials, either made to order or available in small quantities to minimize waste.
What does climate change mean to Siena Vida?
Climate Change is a complex, multi-faceted issue that requires a comprehensive solution across the business, government, and community. We all have a role to play in order to ensure that future generations receive the beautiful gift that is Mother Earth. That said, the first step to igniting change is to start internally and thatโs why we have a mandate to only use sustainable fabric for our products. Thereโs no action too small and no action too inconsequential so we urge everyone to look at small ways and changes to be eco-conscious in the fight against climate change!

Do you have any other tips on how to incorporate sustainability into one’s everyday life?
Our best advice to incorporate sustainability is to start small. Research has shown that it is very daunting to make large changes over extended periods of time. Therefore, find one way in which you can cut down your environmental footprint – whether that’s by reducing the number of single-use plastics, purchase reusable shopping bags, or using a metal straw. What weโve found is that by committing to making this small change, we gain momentum to make another small change. Soon, weโve made a drastic reduction in our eco-footprint.
